We need your help.
COVID-19 affected many aspects of our lives, but it should not affect a child's education. That is why the United Nations Association of Atlanta partnered with YGA TWIN Science Group (based in Istanbul, Turkey) for the 100 S.T.E.M KITS TO CHANGE 100 LIVES CHALLENGE. We will be providing 100 S.T.E.M kits to benefit selected students at Indian Creek Elementary School in Clarkston, Georgia, USA, and the Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village in Rwanda. The children have all faced adversities such as displacement, loss of family, loss of home, and violence. And yet the courageous children are doing their best in school, paving a path for themselves to a brighter future. During this pandemic, the children should not have to give up their love of learning too. We hope to provide S.T.E.M Kits to the children to continue their science education at home and we need YOUR help! Our teachers at Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village (Rwanda) and Indian Creek Elementary School (USA) are organizing the utilization of these S.T.E.M Kits with their students:
Mobilizing Science Education at Home
“The majority of students enter our unique school as refugees from more than 40 countries around the world, speaking more than 30 different languages and dialects, but with an incredible desire to learn! Math and Science often emerge as their FAVORITE subject areas as their English skills develop and learners are incredibly drawn to STEM offerings at our school such as robotics, coding, gardening, technology fair, and more! The TWIN STEM kits would serve as an amazing catalyst for their emergence as future scientists, engineers, and technology specialists!"Dr. Adam Nykamp, Instructional Support Specialist, Indian Creek Elementary School, Clarkston, GA, USA
"The TWIN STEM kits will be an invaluable addition to ASYV's science programming. It's tools like these, which make subject matters accessible and fun, that help our kids not only to learn but to develop a deeper passion and understanding that will benefit them long after they graduate from the Village."Jill Elias, Engagement and Operations Manager, Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village, Rwanda
Our goal is to raise $10,000 to purchase and deliver 100 S.T.E.M. Kits we identified as a necessary educational resource for Indian Creek Elementary School and Agahozo-Shalom Youth Village. Your donation of any amount ($) will make an impact on the lives on the children living in underserved communities. With assistance from Young Guru Academy (YGA) and TWIN Science Group, the Regional Centre of Expertise on Education For Sustainable Development (RCE) of Greater Atlanta, and Women Igniting Change, we'll advocate for the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education) and 10 (Reducing Inequalities) through this project. Please join us in this international effort to positively change 100 children's lives.
